The total outstanding loans extended by the current 38 domestic banks increased by NT$428.3 billion (US$13.65 billion) as compared to the figure of the previous month and amounted to NT$47.35 trillion (US$1,509 billion) at the end of May 2026. Meanwhile, the NPLs of these banks totaled at NT$68.52 billion (US$2.18 billion), a increase of NT$0.03 billion (US$0.96 million) against the previous month. The average NPL ratio of the 38 banks fell to 0.14% down from 0.15% at the end of previous month, and as down by 0.02 percentage points compared to the same month last year.
　　The coverage ratios of allowances for NPLs was 919.81%, an increase of 7.19 percentage points against the previous month. The asset quality of domestic banks continuously remained manageable according to the above figures as of the end of May 2026. The FSC will require banks to undertake measures to improve asset quality and financial structure on an ongoing basis.
