FSC Approves CTBC Bank to Apply for Establishing its Los Angeles Branch in the United States

The Financial Supervisory Commission (hereinafter referred to as FSC) has granted approval to CTBC Bank to apply to the competent authority of the United States for the establishment of its Los Angeles Branch.
CTBC Bank plans to set up its Los Angeles Branch in the United States due to the importance of California to the American economy and the business opportunities in terms of clients. It also seeks to enhance its services on the West Coast of the United States and maximize synergy with its American subsidiary and branches to improve services for Asian customers on the West Coast of the United States.
As of the end of March 2025, CTBC Bank's overseas branch institutions included 6 subsidiaries in Indonesia, the Philippines, Canada, the United States, Japan, and Thailand, 12 branches in Hong Kong, Kowloon, New Delhi, Sriperumbudur, New York, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Shenzhen, and 7 representative offices in Bangkok, Hanoi, Beijing, Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, and Yangon.
The FSC states that Taiwanese banks currently have 3 representative offices, 25 branches, and 3 subsidiaries in the United States, including 1 representative office, 10 branches, and 3 subsidiaries in Los Angeles.
