FSC approves Land Bank of Taiwan to Apply for Establishing its Tokyo Branch in Japan

The Financial Supervisory Commission (hereinafter referred to as the “FSC”) granted approval to Land Bank of Taiwan (referred to as “Land Bank” hereunder) for applying to financial authorities in Japan for setting up a branch in Tokyo.
In consideration that Japan is one of the world’s major economies and an important trading partner of Taiwan, Land Bank plans to apply for setting up a branch in Tokyo to extend the reach of its financial services to Northeast Asia and gradually build up a comprehensive overseas service network.
As of the end of March 2025, Land Bank’s overseas presences include 8 branches and one representative office, respectively located in Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tianjin, Wuhan, Brisbane, and Kuala Lumpur.
The FSC stated that so far eight domestic banks have set up branches in Japan, including Bank of Taiwan, First Commercial Bank, Chang Hwa Commercial Bank, Mega Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, E. Sun Commercial Bank, Taishin International Bank, and Chinatrust Bank.
