Statistics of Credit Card, Cash Card & Electronic Payment Institutions Business Operation as of March 2023

1. Credit Card:
As of March 2023, thirty-three credit card issuing institutions were in operation in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 58.71 million (57.75 million at the end of February 2023) among which the total active cards numbered in 37.04 million (36.26 million at the end of February 2023). The balance of revolving credit was NT$102.8 billion (NT$ 102.3 billion at the end of February 2023). The amount of undue balance of installment was approximately NT$166.2 billion (NT$173.7 billion at the end of February 2023). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$346.9 billion (NT$269.6 billion for February 2023). The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.41 billion (NT$ 0.32 billion for February 2023). Average ratio of delinquency credit (pass-due over three months) against account receivables (including non-accrual amounts) was 0.18% (0.17% at the end of February 2023) (Please see Attachment 1).
2. Cash Card:
As of March 2023, thirteen financial institutions were engaging in cash cards business in Taiwan. Total number of effective cash cards was 0.32 million (equivalent to the number of February 2023). Total balance of cash card loans (including non-accrual amounts) was NT$11.4 billion (equivalent to the number of February 2023). The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.03 billion (NT$0.02 billion for February 2023). The overall delinquency ratio was 1.086% (1.094% at the end of February 2023 ) (Please see Attachment 2).
3. Electronic Payment Institutions Business:
As of March 2023, there were ten specialized electronic payment institutions, and twenty electronic payment institutions were concurrently engaging in other businesses (included dual-status banks, Chunghwa Post Co, Ltd, and electronic stored value cards issuers).
(1) Stored Value Card:
The number of effective cards totaled 163.41 million (161.73 million at the end of February 2023). The number of cards in using was 13.12 million (13.13 million for February 2023). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$6.54 billion (NT$5.77 billion for February 2023). The balance of stored value was NT$12.95 billion (NT$12.92 billion at the end of February 2023) (Please see Attachment 3).
(2) Electronic Payment Account:
The number of users totaled 23.32 million (22.75 million at the end of February 2023). The monthly amount of funds collected & paid as an agent for real transactions was NT$12.22 billion (NT$10.83 billion for February 2023). The monthly amount of funds for engaging in domestic & foreign small-amount remittance business was NT$14.09 billion (NT$12.04 billion for February 2023). The monthly amount of stored value funds was NT$31.21 billion (NT$27.71 billion for February 2023). The balance of the e-payment accounts in the e-payment institutions totaled NT$11.1 billion (NT$11.68 billion at the end of February 2023) (Please see Attachment 4).
4. The measurement indicators for cashless payment transactions:
The number of non-cash payment transactions was 1.52 billion, and the total non-cash payment transaction amount was NT$ 1.67 trillion in the first quarter of 2023.

The monthly amount of funds for engaging in domestic & foreign small-amount remittance business was NT$14.09 billion (NT$12.04 billion for February 2023). The monthly amount of stored value funds was NT$31.21 billion (NT$27.71 billion for February 2023). The balance of the e-payment accounts in the e-payment institutions totaled NT$11.1 billion (NT$11.68 billion at the end of February 2023) (Please see Attachment 4).
4. The measurement indicators for cashless payment transactions:
The number of non-cash payment transactions was 1.52 billion, and the total non-cash payment transaction amount was NT$ 1.67 trillion in the first quarter of 2023.
