Statistics of Credit Card & Cash Card & Electronic Stored Value Cards Business Operation as of March 2017

1. Credit card:
As of March 2017, thirty-six credit card issuing institutions were in operation in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 40.6 million (40.5 million at the end of February 2017) among which the total active cards numbered in 26.90 million (26.73 million at the end of February 2017). The balance of revolving credit was NT$106.9 billion (NT$107.2 billion at the end of February 2017). The amount of undue balance of installment was approximately NT$93.2 billion (NT$95.2 billion at the end of February 2017). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$220.3 billion that increased by NT$35.3 billion as compared to NT$185.0 billion of February 2017. The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.47 billion (NT$0.32 billion for February 2017). Average ratio of delinquency credit (pass-due over three months) against account receivables (including non-accrual amounts) was 0.27% (0.28% at the end of February 2017) (Please see Attachment 1).
2. Cash card:
As of March 2017, seventeen financial institutions were engaged in issuing cash cards in Taiwan. Total number of effective cash cards was 0.42 million (0.42 million at the end of February 2017). Total balance of cash card loans (including non-accrual amounts) was NT$19.6 billion (NT$19.7 billion at the end of February 2017). The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.04 billion (NT$0.04 billion for February 2017). The overall delinquency ratio was down from 1.014% of February 2017 to 1.000% (Please see Attachment 2).
3. Electronic Stored Value Card:
As of March 2017, four specializing electronic stored value card institutions and two commercial banks are engaging in electronic stored value card business in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 83.53 million (82.41 million at the end of February 2017). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$6.90 billion (NT$5.84 billion for February 2017). The balance of stored value was NT$7.34 billion that increased by NT$40 million as compared to last month (NT$7.30 billion at the end of February 2017) (Please see Attachment 3).
4. Supervisory Measures:
In accordance with the current regulations, the FSC is required to undertake supervisory measures on a financial institution with a delinquency ratio of over 3% for its credit card or cash card operations.
(1) Credit cards:All the card-issuing institutions had delinquency ratio below 3%.
 (2) Cash cards:All the card-issuing institutions had delinquency ratio below 3%.
